Beer Bar, Las Vegas 1957
Product Description
Las Vegas in the 1950s was an exciting place to visit. During this decade the Sahara, the Sands, the New Frontier, the Royal Nevada, the Showboat, the Riviera, the Fremont, Binion’s Horseshoe and the Tropicana were built for guests who poured into the exotic and exciting desert city.
Gambling wasn’t the only attraction. Stars like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jnr, Liberace, Bing Crosby and Carol Channing attracted swarms of fans to the last Vegas strip in its heyday.
But for hard-working locals, it wasn’t all relaxation, gourmet food and non-stop entertainment.
People who lived in Las Vegas patronized drive-ins and one of the most popular was the Round-Up at Fifth (later Las Vegas Boulevard) and Main.
The diner, coffee shop and package liquor store, which did a roaring trade in beer, had a neon sign on top of its roof that was constantly spinning.
Food offerings were straightforward and fairly priced, with dishes like hamburgers and pot pies freshly prepared. Customers were invited to ‘inspect our stainless steel kitchen any time.’
This stylish mid-century menu cover depicting cowboys was dated September 1957.
The Round-Up was replaced with a Denny’s in the 1960s.
Each order includes a print of the interior menu.
All printed in USA.
