Product Description

Au Cochon d'or - The Golden Pig - was a restaurant in Paris originally run by proprietor Rene Ayral. It operated from the 1930s through to the late 1990s in the La Villette area of Paris. Its actual address was 192, Avenue Jean-Jaurès, in the 19th arrondisement.

From two reviews in 1995: Au Cochon d'or - "This institution of La Villette, with its engraved bar and display of beautiful meats, returns to the peak of fashion. Superb calf's head in salad, imperial grilled beef with fried onion donuts and puffed apples, the invigorating Grand-Marnier ice-cold soufflé is always a pleasure." "Nobody here has ever heard of a diet. Ladies with rosy cheeks and beefy men think only of pleasure."

Using Google street maps, we see that there is now a Chinese restaurant (Wok 192) at the address of the Cochon d'or in the 19th arrondissement.
