Venus Room Judy Garland Premiere, New Frontier Hotel, Las Vegas, 1956
Product Description
The New Frontier (formerly Last Frontier and The Frontier) was a hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It was the second resort that opened on the Las Vegas Strip and operated continuously from October 30, 1942 until it closed on July 16, 2007. The building was demolished on November 13, 2007. Wynn Resorts currently owns the land. The resort had the distinction of hosting Elvis Presley's first Vegas appearance in April 1956, and the final performance of The Supremes with Diana Ross as lead singer on January 14, 1970. This stunning piece of menu art is from August 1956 and inside was a special Venus Room menu for Judy Garland's Las Vegas premiere. When Variety reviewed Judy's show at the New Frontier in 1956, they exclaimed, "She is my unequivocal choice as the greatest entertainer I ever saw. She has no equal. Talk about charisma, she invented the word!"
