Product Description

In-flight menu art on a flight from Chicago O'Hare to Seattle.

"To capture the highlights of beautiful Seattle, the artist painted Mt. Rainier from Magnolia Bluffs, the Bay and Douglas firs from the top of Admiral's Way and included a stray totem pole from the docks. The artist, Peter Hayward, was born in New England and now makes his home in Hawaii. A self-taught artist, Mr. Hayward spent 15 years as a portrait sculptor before beginning to paint in 1950. His distinctive use of the palette knife and his flair for capturing the magic of a particular place in time, have brought him world wide recognition. Mr. Hayward's paintings are included the collections of eleven museums and many private collections."

This cover was one of twelve scenes of American cities that Peter Hayward painted exclusively for United Airlines.

Peter Hayward was born in 1905 and died in 1993.
