The Tiffin Coffee Shop, USA 1960
Product Description
The United States experienced a period of unprecedented economic prosperity following World War II and with increased consumer spending, people became accustomed to eating out.
Tiffin Coffee Shops were popular in the 50s and 60s because they offered meals in a refined atmosphere but at reasonable prices. The name tiffin means a light snack, especially lunch.
This elaborately dressed waitress in her lace apron and cap served a lavish Thanksgiving Day Dinner in 1960. There was a choice of the daily ‘tiffinette’ – a three course lunch costing $2.35 in 1960 with coffee, tea or milk thrown in for free.
A la carte was also offered, with no dish more expensive than $2.95.
We believe this restaurant was in Colorado, but its exact location is unknown.
Each order includes a print of the interior menu.
All printed in USA.
