Product Description

French menu covers are usually quite formal affairs, so this illustration took us by surprise.

In 1945, Disney released The Three Caballeros featuring Donald Duck, his Brazilian parrot friend Jose Carioca from the 1942 film Saludos Amigos and his Mexican rooster pal Panchito Pistoles.

It marked the tenth anniversary of the creation of Donald Duck and was a combination of traditional animation and live action shots featuring stars of the period such as Aurora Miranda (sister of ‘Brazilian bombshell’ Carmen Miranda, famous for her fruit-laden headpieces).

Mexican singer Dora Luz and Mexican singer and dancer Carmen Molina also appeared and the film was nominated for two Academy Awards.

The artist on this French menu – his initials are MG – clearly modeled his characters on these Disney creations for this 1949 Christmas menu – they are slightly different from the original Disney creations.

Inside, in beautiful handwritten script, is an extravagant Christmas dinner, complete with cocktails, wine and champagne.

There is no indication of where in France this Christmas feast was held.

Gallery quality Giclée print on natural white, matte, 100% cotton rag, acid and lignin free archival paper using Epson archival inks. Custom printed with border for matting and framing.

Each order includes a print of the interior menu.

All printed in USA.
