The Golden Buddha, Sarasota, 1960s
Product Description
Just north of the Circus Hall of Fame between Sarasota and Bradenton Florida, The Golden Buddha promised "a breath of the Orient amid Florida's Tropical Splendor" and served mid-20th century "Chinese food that's Exotic." There were sister restaurants in St. Petersburg, Toy Reef, and the famous Nanking Restaurant in Washington, DC. The "Tony Special Banquet" was offered starting at $40 and meatless dishes included Chinese Cheese (an authentic fermented tofu).
