Product Description

‘The place with the friendly feeling,’ says this menu from the Clock Broiler in Lynwood, California, in the 1950s.

The Clock Broiler was a popular restaurant chain that came to be known for its ‘Chubby the Champ’ mascot burger and expanded to over a dozen locations.

The restaurant was known for its car hops who wore satin marching band uniforms and served customers in their cars.

However, this menu is more of a sit-down kind of place, judging from the soups, lobster and steak dishes that it offered, and we note that the time on the clock says five minutes to seven – definitely dinner time. And there's no sign on this menu of Chubby the Champ.

The Lynwood Clock Broiler was at 11004 Atlantic Avenue, Lynwood, and we believed it closed in the 1960s.
