Swedish American Line, MS Kungsholm 1959
Product Description
The Swedish American Line or SAL (in Swedish it was Svenska Amerika Linien) was a Swedish company that offered ocean liner service from Gothenburg to destinations in North America and the Caribbean.
This unusual 1959 menu features a parrot in a sailor’s cap and an illustration of the services on board for passengers – clay pigeon shooting, sunbathing and swimming, bowls and gambling in an on-board casino.
The drinks menu was for tourist class and featured cocktails priced from 35c to 60c. A glass of draught beer was 20c, so it was probably a very pleasant journey indeed!
It was probably in use on board the MS Kungsholm. The first MS Kungsholm set sail in the 1920s from Gothenburg to New York and was renamed every time the ship was replaced. There were four MS Kungsholms in all.
The Swedish American Line closed in 1990.
Each order includes a print of the interior menu.
