Skillern's, Texas, 1940
Product Description
An attractive cowgirl uses a loop of rope to spell out the word menu on this vintage soda fountain cover from the famous Texas drug store Skillern's. Established in 1895, generations of children queued up for its famous "doubl' rich" ice-creams and chocolate sodas – they also got those treats free when their parents bought school supplies at Skillern's. There were dozens of Skillern drug stores across the lone star state. This simple but strikingly effective menu cover with great graphics and eye-catching illustrations is a reminder of a beloved chain that closed down in the 70s.
