Mermaids were popular illustrations on vintage cruise ship menus and this is a particularly lovely example. It shows one of these mythic aquatic creatures riding on a seagull while a crowd of mermaid babies help raise them up. In the background are two galleons. This was for a private dinner on board the S/S Resolute in 1930, hence the relatively simple food offering, and the charming picture on the back suggests it was for a couple celebrating a wedding or an anniversary.
