Pompiers Menu, France 1955
Product Description
This is a charming example of vintage menu art from a French restaurant, dated 1955. It shows a jolly band of pompiers, the French word for firemen, who obviously appreciate good food. While one drives the fire engine, the others hang on a ladder and offer all sorts of delicious dishes including lobster and French cheese. Another pompier stands by with a hose attached to a barrel of wine. The menu cover was created by Jacques Faizant, one of France’s most popular illustrators. The interior menu is typewritten. There is no indication of the restaurant’s location or its owners.
