Martini Olive Detail from The McAllister, Miami 1955
Product Description
This delightful image of an olive – with eyelashes - about to dive into a martini glass featured on a 1955 menu for the McAllister Hotel in Miami, Florida.
This ten-story hotel, located at the corner of what is now Flagler Street and Biscayne Boulevard, was the tallest building in Miami’s burgeoning skyline at the time of opening in 1919.
It was named after real estate developer Emma McAllister who bought the land it sat on and saw the project through development before selling to fellow hotelier Olof Anderson of Kentucky. He kept the McAllister name.
The hotel was demolished in 1988, and condominiums now stand on the site.
The olive image was a promotional sticker that could be attached to menus. We have another example in light green in our collection. It was probably created by a company that specialized in printing menus and is a perfect example of the whimsy and imagination of vintage menu art.
Each print is accompanied by a copy of the interior menu or cover.
