M.S. Santos Maru 1936
Product Description
This is lovely vintage menu cover art from the Santos Maru, the first passenger motor vessel to be built in Japan. The ship did a westbound round-the-world service to South Asia, South Africa, South American and the Gulf and Pacific coasts of the United States. A cargo ship, there was room for only 38 passengers on board but their accommodation was luxurious. Interestingly, although the menu cover is Japanese, the food that the guests were served was decidedly American.
