Product Description

The cute little guy on the front cover of this menu was the mascot for Jeffrey’s, an elegant restaurant and coffee shop opened in 1961 at 960 South Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs, California.

By all accounts, it was a lovely mid-century building with a sloping roof and adjoining patio. Inside the plush setting, customers sat on pink banquettes.

Jeffrey’s, which was situated in the now-defunct Cameron shopping center, was opened by businessman Milton F Kreis, who operated the chain of MFK drug stores and was a home-owner in Palm Springs for two decades.

He also operated Rim Rocks, The Signature Room and Grundy’s Groggery in Palm Springs.

When Jeffrey’s opened, it was managed by PJ Valense, known as Mr Val, and chef Frank Grizzele served sophisticated continental cuisine in the restaurant.

In 1968, Mr Kreis sold the restaurant to Sherman Harris, operator of Sherman’s steakhouse.

We’re not sure when it was demolished but its location is currently a building site.
