These whimsical, adorable poodles illustrated a menu from one of the final voyages of the RMS Franconia, the second ship built for Cunard to carry the name.
From her maiden voyage in 1923 until the war, Franconia spent the bulk of her time going between Liverpool and New York, while spending the off-seasons on world cruises or in the Caribbean – an enviable lifestyle.
During World War Two she, like most cruise liners, was requisitioned for troop transport – but Franconia also had a moment in the history books when she served as the British base of operations for the fateful Yalta Conference.
Franconia returned to civilian duties in 1949, this time between Europe and Canada. After one final New York voyage, she was scrapped in December 1956.
