Product Description

The Desert Inn was one of Las Vegas's most iconic and cherished hotels and its legendary Crystal Room hosted a galaxy of stars over many decades. In its opening years it was the stomping ground of stars such as Noel Coward and members of the Rat Pack. The hotel's most famous guest – the billionaire businessman Howard Hughes – came to stay in 1966, renting the top two floors, and liked it so much that he bought the property a few months later. It was one of his many investments in Las Vegas. As the years went on, the Crystal Room played host to new talents such as Barry Manilow, Neil Sedaka, Cher, Tina Turner and Wayne Newton. They all loved the crystal clear acoustics, the gaudy décor which, naturally, featured huge crystal chandeliers and the atmosphere. The Desert Inn underwent a $250 million refurbishment in 1997 and in 2500, shortly after celebrating its 50th birthday, the property was bought by the tycoon Steve Wynn. The main tower was demolished to make way for a new mega resort – the Wynn Las Vegas – and the other towers were imploded several years later.
