Crane Steak House, San Francisco 1936
Product Description
This is a marvelous vintage menu cover showing a gussied-up crane in a chef’s hat, offering a sizzling steak to customers. Note the cheeky expression on this long-legged and long-necked bird, and the cigar dangling from its mouth. Dated 1936, this menu cover comes from the now defunct Crane Hotel on Powell Street in downtown San Francisco. Known as “the friendly hotel,” it offered rooms at the time for a dollar a night and kept its customers happy with a huge food offering in its restaurant.
