Product Description

Chocko’s & Tere was opened in 1975 and this marvelous menu illustration shows a rather debonair shrimp acting as a waiter.

Chocko is the nickname given to farmers or campesinos in the region of Tuxtla Gutierrez, in the south of the Mexican state of Veracruz, and Tere is a shortened version of the name Theresa.

On the back of the menu, it says that Chocko’s&Tere are a group of ‘crazies’ giving it their all to make meals in the restaurant on Mexico’s gulf coast enjoyable and memorable.

‘If you’re happy, sing! If you’re sad, smile! Here, everyone is your friend, and we want you to feel right at home,’ the announcement continues.

The interior menu - there are a lot of red wine stains on the one we have !- is in Spanish and English and lobster was one of the main attractions.

We’ve also found a Chocko's & Tere in Cancun, some 500 miles away from this original one, but it seems to have closed about 15 years ago.  We’re not sure when this original location ceased business, but it sounds like it was a fun place to be.
