Product Description

The Chicago and North Western Transportation Company (C & NW) was a Class 1 railroad in the Midwestern United States.
First chartered in 1859, it became one of the longest railroads in the US as a result of mergers with other railroads and ran through Illinois, Iowa. Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, south Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
The railroad operated more than 5,000 miles of track at the turn of the 20th century, and over 12,000 miles of track in seven states before retrenchment in the late 1970s.
This marvelous menu from 1941 features four of the railroad’s most famous locomotives. We think they are from left to right an F7 Diesel Electric, a Class H steam locomotive, an EMD E Diesel and a streamlined Class E4 “Hudson” steam loco.
They were all designed to haul the railroad’s famous “400” express passenger trains.
In 1995, the Union Pacific Corporation acquired C & NW.
