Product Description

This impressive and patriotic menu cover featuring American and Dutch flags was printed for the Restaurant Royal, a grand establishment in The Hague, the administrative capital of The Netherlands.
This menu, which was probably picked up by a visiting American tourist on a grand voyage around Europe, is impossible to date since the Restaurant Royal no longer exists and there are no records relating to it.
However, there are clues in the list of drinks – on offer is a champagne cognac from 1858. There is also a reference to a Tom and Jerry, a hot drink made of eggnog, brandy and rum, which was invented in 1825.
