German pot roast with gravy and apple sauce!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWould children eat these meals today … we don’t think so.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAlfred’s restaurant opened in a huge Adirondack-style building in 1962, near Lake George and Glens Falls in the New York region, along route 9.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePresumably, parents were well catered for too at this roadside stop.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis 1970s menu was given to children as a souvenir, after they had finished their extravagant lunches or dinners.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAlfred’s closed in 1984 and became the Montcalm restaurant. That establishment closed in 2013.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNB: The interior menu has a pencil scrawl.
