Product Description

The vibrant colors and the design of this cruise ship menu are still stunning, even though it is nearly 90 years old. It was for a special dinner aboard the luxury motor liner Kungsholm, part of the Swedish America Line, during a trip to the West Indies in 1935 and was probably printed on board. While some cruise ships were decorated in a showy and vulgar manner, the Kungsholm was renowned for its elegant and spare design with spacious saloons, an aquasanium or swimming pool and sumptuous accommodation. The liner was requisitioned by the United States during World War Two as a troop transporter but it later returned to service, carrying wealthy passengers around the world in luxury.
