Tai Song was an iconic Cantonese and American restaurant in Manhattan Beach, California. Famous for its strong drinks, good food and hearty welcomes from the Tai family, it opened in 1956.

The restaurant owed its odd architecture to the fact that it was a converted mule barn from the 1920s. The Tai family topped the building with a red roof and erected stylish neon signs, replicated on the front cover of the menu.

The bar was a popular drop-in spot for locals after work and on pay days.  We’ve found reviews of the place commenting on the potent drinks – the Scorpion bowl, the Lapu-Lapu and the Fog-cutter are some examples. Apparently, Tai Song also made the best martini in MB.

The food menu was extensive – the house special was Beef Su Chow – and Tai Song was a popular destination for family celebrations and date nights.

Tai Song remained a fixture in this California beachside town for more than three decades. We believe the restaurant at 1405 Sepulveda Blvd was demolished in the 1980s. Valvoline Instant Oil change now stands on the spot.

This company has a wonderful/very interesting selection of prints- definitely worth looking up online! A wide variety of topics, and interesting "back stories" on everything they make. I visited a booth "in person" at the L.A. Farmer's Market with a very helpful vendor, and when back home and getting the print framed for myself I contacted the company to order another one for a cat loving friend! Shipping was reasonable/sent the next day and arrived safely at my friend's house. Keeping their info for future purchases as there's something for everyone- and really appreciated the great service!

Loved the Katz Menu! Our grandson lives in view of the old Katz Dug Store I grew up going to in the 1950s and 1960s. We framed it behind glass with the menu behind glass on the frame back.
