Product Description

Before the invention of mini bars, hotel guests called room service if they wanted booze delivered to their rooms. This 1936 menu from the famous Willard Hotel in Washington shows the fine selection of wines and spirits available to politicians and lobbyists who made the luxurious hotel, a block from the White House, their temporary home. A stylish army of uniformed waiters holds aloft trays of cocktails on the menu cover, which also has wonderful graphics. The Willard, which has been in business since 1818, remains an essential part of the social and political scene in Washington and is now an Intercontinental Hotel.
