Product Description

This striking vintage drinks list cover is from the 1950s and is a fine example of mid-century modern art.

The design is characterized by clean lines, two bright colors and bold images of a couple of glasses and a bottle of wine, which cleverly looks like it’s part of a jigsaw.

Inside this Bruno Restaurant Inc menu are witticisms written in French, which makes us think it is probably from Montreal, Canada.

Among them: ‘quand mon verre est vide, je le plains’ and ‘ quand mon verre est plein, je le vide’ means ‘when my glass is empty, I fill it,’ and ‘when my glass is full, I empty it.’ And finally, ‘Bien boire et bien manger, c’est louer le Seigneur dans ses oeuvres’ means ‘To drink and eat well is to praise the Lord in his works’.

There’s also a lovely description of champagne, comparing its bubbles to ‘the giggles of children.’

We have been unable to find out more information about Bruno Restaurant Inc and will update as soon as we do.

Meanwhile, enjoy this great vintage menu art design.
