Waddle's opened in 1938 and was designed by the celebrated architect Pietro Belluschi, a pioneer in the development of American modern architecture. A giant Eat Now sign sat on top of the building as well as a reader board which said "Bees humm cause they don't know the words." The family-owned business had three locations in the Portland area. The Jantzen Beach restaurant was the last to close in 2004 and is now a Hooters Bar and Grill.
