Cocktail Penguins, 1950s

This charming parade of penguins carrying olives, a lemon slice, a maraschino cherry and a stirrer- ingredients for a cocktail - is from the 1950s.

Penguins were often portrayed as cute little bartenders on vintage menu art. With their black and white “suits,” they were smartly dressed and who better to convey the pleasure of a chilled cocktail than penguins?

Cocktail shakers and ice buckets in the shape of penguins were also popular.
