Parker House, Boston 1860

Parker House was founded by Harvey D Parker in 1855 in Boston and if its walls could talk, it would tell amazing stories. Charles Dickens, visiting from England, stayed here and wrote to his daughter describing it as an “immense hotel” with many public rooms and boasting that he had a bath with hot and cold running water. Politicians who have stayed here range from Ulysses S Grant to President John F Kennedy. Babe Ruth used to relax here after playing for the Boston Red Sox. It remains the longest continuously operated hotel in America. This menu cover is from 1860, five years after the hotel opened, and the interior lists a superb range of wines and liquors.
