This glorious menu, which is dated 1891, came from a steamship called La Champagne which travelled the Le Havre to New York route. It carried mail between the two countries – sometimes called Pacquebot mail – as well as passengers and cargo. The paper was a lovely rose blush color and the ink etchings show life aboard the ship; there is a scene on deck, passengers being served in an ornate dining room and the view of the Statue of Liberty  that those on board would have seen as they reached the end of their journey. Operated by Compagnie Générale Transatlantique.
