This 1940s menu cover is a marvellous example of the creativity and humor of vintage menu art. It was designed for The Chicken Hut restaurant in Washington DC. Using the motto – “an unusual eating place where Chicken is King” - the artist created a regal chicken complete with crown, ermine cape and sceptre and fawning subjects. Nor did the inventiveness end there – the drinks list is chicken-themed too. There’s even a chicken barman ready to serve with the words: “what’ll it be, gents?
